The speed march which took place earlier this month, was reconstituted in 1996 and follows the original seven mile route between Spean Bridge Railway Station and Achnacarry House, the principal Commando training establishment during World War 2, with participants, now as then, carrying 36 lbs of weight (traditionally their 'fighting order').

The Commando Speed March is an annual charitable 6.7 mile race with the intention of raising as much money possible for military charities. The race follows the original route used to select personnel for Commando training who, if successful, would be trained in and around the grounds of Achnacarry House.
